The Hydrant combines collage, soft pastel drawing, and screen print on transparent film. These elements are layered together to form an image of a fire hydrant that I encountered while walking through downtown Toronto.
The work begins with an ordinary piece of street infrastructure. By reconstructing it through different materials and transparent layers, I wanted to look more closely at an object that is familiar but often passes unnoticed.
