Perspective in transit is a mixed-media collage constructed around a shallow three-dimensional box. At its centre is a black-and-white photograph of a curved, tiled Underground passage, interrupted by folded photographic sections positioned on different planes. Images taken from an older book are combined with photographs I took in 2025, while blue screen-printed lines and transparent film extend beyond the central opening.
The work explores how perspective can be created through both image and material. Curved tiles, diagonal architecture and radiating blue lines direct the eye in different directions, while the folded paper creates physical depth rather than simply representing it. The contrast between the older monochrome image, recent colour photographs and blue printing brings different visual records together within one structure.
Viewing the collage from different angles changes how its surfaces and images overlap. This shifting perspective reflects the experience of moving through Underground and urban spaces, where routes, structures and fragments of architecture continually enter and leave view. The work presents perspective as something shaped by position, movement and images gathered at different moments.
